Lead by Example
The first dance between the couple is often the headline event of the wedding reception, and everyone in the room will have their eyes on the couple on the dance floor. The type of dance you have is up to you – it can be the traditional slow dance, or you can go with the modern trend of having various songs playing during the first dance. If you go with the second choice, this can be a great way of getting more guests involved and can be a great way to fill the dance floor up as soon as the first dance is finished.
This idea will take a bit of planning beforehand, but it can be extremely beneficial if you try and get song requests from your guests. This can be beneficial for close friends and family as you can arrange for the DJ to schedule songs which are meaningful, and this will be sure to get them up onto the dance floor.
Make it Mandatory for Close Family/Friends
It may be difficult to get all the guests at your wedding to dance, but close friends and family shouldn’t have an excuse! If you need a little help, you should get the help of your groomsmen and bridesmaids when trying to get your other friends up on the dance floor too!
Hire a Band
If you are struggling to get people engaging with the wedding, hiring a professional band can be a wonderful way to get people up on their feet and enjoying themselves. To ensure that this is the case, try and hire a jazz or rock band as this type of music will be more upbeat and guests will definitely want to have a good dance!
