Under their stewardship, Manchester Hall will continue to deliver the exceptional and unique experiences that guests have come to expect — while embracing new ideas and innovations that will secure its place as one of the city's premier destinations.
It is a rare privilege to own a building of such significance, and one that Colin and his team do not take lightly. Manchester Hall will continue to honour its extraordinary heritage while evolving to exceed the expectations of every guest who walks through its doors.
An Illustrious History
Completed in 1929 as the headquarters for the Freemasons of East Lancashire, Manchester Hall was designed by the celebrated architect Percy Scott Worthington — a masterwork of neo-classical design that earned him the Royal Institute of British Architects Gold Medal in 1930.
From the sweeping barrel-vaulted ceilings and polished French limestone columns of the Grand Hall to the intricate oak panelling and ornate plasterwork of its private chambers, no expense was spared in creating a building befitting one of Britain's great industrial cities. For decades, much of its breathtaking interior remained hidden from public view.
Following a sensitive multi-million pound restoration carried out in close partnership with English Heritage, Manchester Hall now opens its doors to all. The original grandeur has been carefully preserved and enhanced, fusing 1920s elegance with 21st century sophistication to create a venue unlike any other in Manchester.
